FootballWatch the team without the ball
A simple way to see more than possession statistics.

Possession tells you who has the ball, but not everything about who is comfortable. A team can spend time defending and still control the areas it considers most dangerous.
Look between the lines
Watch the gaps between defenders and midfielders. If a pass reaches an attacker in that space, notice whether they can turn or must immediately return it. The same completed pass can create very different levels of danger.
Follow the response
After the ball moves wide, watch the far side of the defending team. Does it move across? Is a runner left untracked? You can learn about the collective shape without needing a close-up of the challenge.
Make one comparison
Compare an early possession with a similar one later in the match. Has the space changed? Fatigue, substitutions and the score can affect decisions. Keep these as observations rather than treating one still image as a complete tactical explanation.
