Compare like with like The format, venue and stage of a match can change what a performance means. Comparing numbers without those details can make a tidy argument that misses the sporting problem the player was solving.

Add one sentence of context When sharing a statistic, add a short explanation of the situation. You do not need a complicated model. A clear sentence about the innings or conditions often improves a discussion more than another isolated number.
